Most customers are pissed off at Comcast not the rep.

This is definitely true!! But it is so hard to disentangle in the heat of frustration. Important reminder for us all!

Thanks for acknowledging that there are cost benefit analyses to be done here. While I absolutely agree that data privacy should factor in to your decision making, as a therapist, i would also be encouraging people to find apps that use evidence based techniques. Using an app that is secure but unhelpful is not much better than no app at all. Some of the apps that you have listed as “creepy” are known to use evidence based techniques (ERP for OCD, CBT for anxiety and depression,) which can be almost impossible to access in the community, especially for youth.

I will have to do some research to see whether it is worth recommending these given your concerns about privacy, and will encourage families to be discerning consumers. But I do feel concerned about the lost resource to individuals who need care.
