I support legalization, but I don't want to do it on the grounds that it is more or less harmful than a legal substance, because that would set the wrong precedent for ending all drug prohibition. It's a matter of personal freedom to commit a victimless crime, not an issue of what is better of worse for your body.

I feel like if I use the argument that it is safer than alcohol, it makes my argument for ending all forms of prohibition seem less relevant. I don't want to hurt the core of my argument by adding details that, while true, are not relevant to my argument. I definitely agree that it's silly for cannabis to be illegal while alcohol is culturally acceptable, but as long as no one else gets hurt, even heroin and methamphetamine should be legal but discouraged
