It requires a strength of will not possessed by the current batch of politicians, most of whom the NSA certainly is holding hostage with dirt they've collected on them.

Is the lack of any legislative action to stop the NSA abuses, in your mind, evidence that the NSA has taken a page from Hoover's FBI and has enough dirt on all the key players in DC to ensure that its position remains untouched?

I can't speak to what it's "doing", but having managed to catch just a GLIMPSE of the thing when I was visiting Utah a few months ago I'll tell you - the thing is huge. It makes every other data-center I've ever seen look tiny.
