naw, I wouldn't call it stupid. people, especially kids, have a need to be accepted by their parents, right? it sounds like you were hoping for her better nature to come out, and she disappointed you.

My fiancee has scoliosis, and she had the same surgery, at 17. She's 28 now and no complications. Hoping for the same outcome for you!

EDIT rereading your post I noticed that you didn't wear your brace frequently; neither did my fiancee. She still feels guilty about it, although I think it's probably a common response and she shouldn't be so hard on herself.
