Forgive me I haven't read your books and perhaps this is something you've addressed in them -

I've been curious if, since we learned that DNA experiences change as we live, there is some contribution from the childless to future generations despite the obvious disconnection from sexual genetic legacy. Is there any mechanism by which a childless individual's influence on others may still texture future humanity (or whatever species we're talking about) - and if that mechanism exists would that also cross species boundaries? In a sense, are people merging with their pets over the long term?
