Agreed. Hetfield is an incredibly underrated rhythm guitar player. Also every concert I've seen him at his notes were pitch perfect.

I think its more like the record companies don't want to gamble on making a new act famous when they can just push through an album by an established and make it seem relevant. Or worse, they take someone with a cult of personality and try to make them relevant in popular music, i.e. Miley Cyrus. And that kind of short sale on current/future acts seems like it could leave a whole generation of millennials without real music icons like Bealtes, Zepplin, Metallica, and Nrivana like we got in each previous decade. Sounds like a really dangerous and short-sighted formula to me.
