Please convince more astronauts to take advantage of social media, like CDR Hadfield. He has almost 700,000 followers on twitter. Americans LOVE the space program, and we want to hear about every nuance of it every day. This, to me, is a HUGE, HUGE part of the mission.

Ms. Garver, I think you know that there is no other government organization that inspires, motivates, fascinates, and is just plain cool as NASA. Period. How many people would follow the NHTSA? IRS? Department of Education? You guys are the shiznit! When CDR Hadfield shows us how he clips his toenails in space, it makes the Reddit front page. We aren't kidding, we want, we CRAVE this stuff! Mike Massimino did do a great job. Ron Garun is still posting. Karen Nyberg just started tweeting, but Chris Cassidy is not even on twitter. Look, I know I am beating a dead horse here, but the absolute bottom line is, we want to feel like we are up there with them.

How long before Voyager 2 exits the solar system? I understand that V1 cannot turn around and take a family photo, but could V2 take one?

lol, I do follow a lot of them already on twitter and FB. The issue is that the NASA astronauts (specifically, the ASTRONAUTS), are not using it as much as they could. All you have to do is compare the number and type of posts that CDR Hadfield is making to any other astronaut. I am sorry that this is all about astronauts, especially on this exciting, UNMANNED, launch day, but let's be honest. It's the astronauts that Americans drool over. I'm just saying we can do better.
