What advice would you give to a young professional about getting into the journalism industry?

At the risk of sounding more argumentative than I mean to, it isn't the responsibility of the teachers to come up with alternative solutions just like it isn't our responsibility to put ourselves at risk to babysit kids. That being said, it becomes the responsibility of government to assist its citizens in times of crisis and ours has failed spectacularly at the federal and state level.
