Former Marine scout/sniper. Everything you said is correct. Never heard it called a "snipers apricot" though. We always just referred to it as the t-box (eyes and nose). And that's something you're only trained to shoot as a sniper in urban sniper school (ie hostage situations). Everything else is center mass. Destroying someone's heart will drop them just as fast as a head shot.

No. There's a place in a persons head called the T-Box (the area of the eyes and nose), that if shot will kill someone immediately before their brain can even send an impulse to any part of the body. You are quite literally dead before you hit the ground.
As far as heads exploding, that's based more on size and velocity of the round. But if you did wan't to make someones head "explode" you would want to shoot them directly in the center of the face with a very large caliber weapon.
I'm a former Scout/Sniper.

What advice would you give to someone currently serving in the military when it comes to being a good leader?
