I first did this for a few years in my late teens/early 20s (I'm 31 now), then I worked in one place for a few years before returning to this lifestyle. It is actually much easier now that there are so many vagabond related resources on the internet. Now you can easily find the best spots to hitchhike (http://hitchwiki.org/maps/), and share any random info with others (/r/vagabond among other sites). Even a site like google maps is a great tool.

I have a ton of respect for people who did this before the internet existed.
