Blade gets too little credit for convincing people, after Batman and Robin, that you could make a successful comic-book movie. I think that's largely because most people outside of Hollywood or comic fandom largely didn't know it was a comic book movie, while everyone inside Hollywood did.

But doesn't that leave room for some really shitty standards? See, for instance, the Texas rework of their curriculum, which included downplaying American faults, lionizing the Founders, etc. Not to mention all the attempts to inject creationism into science classrooms...
