I know a lot of Redditors are actively seeking employment or will be in the near future. I work within HR at a Fortune 100 Company and would love to help you all out. AMA
Without giving the actual name it is a Healthcare Company and is actually top 75 on the Fortune 100 List. I am a recent college graduate(2011) and my position at this company is a HR Analytics Consultant. Being within HR I have learned a great deal about the hiring process and what people look for when choosing candidates for a wide variety of jobs. So let the questions pour in and I will try to help my fellow redditors out as much as I can!
Edit: Lunch time! Also loving the discussions and questions, do keep in mind that I am answering these questions from the mindset of my specific company which may have a different HR Culture / Philosophy than others. I just know when i was on the job hunt I had a lot of questions and knew no one within the HR Sphere.
Edit 2: Back with food! I like the discussion that this has started, and invite any and all other HR pros to throw in their knowledge as well. I, in the grand scheme of things am still and novice. Down the way in the thread i did spend some time talking about the interview process, I believe i did some justice in providing some insights in that.
Edit 3(Last): Thank you everyone for the involved discussion in this ama! I'm going to get some more questions answered and probably call it on this, I really did not expect to get this many questions. From reading the majority of the discussions and comments it seems that there are quite a few that have not / are not having pleasant job hunter experiences. Don't give up, keep persistent and try to keep at least a content disposition about the job hunt.
Goodbye: I am bowing out, Most likely wont get to answer many if any PM's seeing as my information may be not be as harsh as it needs to be (I have the unfortunate disposition of trying to keep a glimmer of hope in the hearts of people on the job hunt). Good luck Reddit on your job search.
