Although I'm worried that this might not good enough, I decided to share it here too since lots of you encouraged me ❤️

After being stuck in my tiny studio for a month due to Covid-19, I started playing around with mental health apps out there. However, I noticed that most of them require at least 10 mins or more for me to consume the audio content and I often run out of patience trying to finish them. I wanted an app that you can use without reserving much of your time.

Happy is free to use and offers;

  • Breathing techniques for keeping calm and relaxed
  • Shift your mind from stress and anxiety
  • Affirmation and positive quotes to shape your day
  • Sleeping tips and tricks
  • Calm relaxing music to enjoy
  • Free unlimited secure private journal
  • Online journal community to talk to people like you
  • and more!

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/happy-a-mental-health-app/id1510821643

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ohsikllc.happy

Hope you find it useful. Stay safe!

How did you develop your privacy policy, and how have you secured the private journal aspect? Do you plan to monetize the app, and if so, how?

Happy is free and it will be and you can write unlimited private journals for free too. However, there's premium for writing public journals and comment on Goodnight Journal(launched in 2013). Goodnight Journal was free up till Nov last year but I really had to find ways to keep the app running and building new features after running it for free for 7 years. You can read more about it on the About page :)

Besides time it takes to use the app as intended, why would you recommend your app (over others)? I get overwhelmed with all the different ones to try out, let alone recommend to clients I work with in healthcare.

Thank you for the question! I tried a bunch of different apps and surprised how many meditation and mental health apps are out there. However, I noticed that most of them require at least 10 mins or more for me to consume the audio content and I often run out of patience trying to finish them. I wanted an app that you can use without reserving much of your time. That offers features that can be used in a short time period and still helps you feel better.

Do you have a degree or qualifications in mental health to develop an app like that safely?

gnjapp-133 karma

I believe people who worked on the content do which were credited on each screen :)

Why should I trust you with my mental health?

gnjapp-131 karma

Thank you for a good question. I built this app with the intention to help people but that it's entirely up to you to trust it or not :)

See I have been battling smartphone addiction for way too long and now i have no will left to fight anymore, wo how do i get out of it?

gnjapp-11 karma

I'm sorry, I don't have a good answer for that since I suffer from smartphone addiction as well lol

Imbeefy25 karma

How many times are you going to spam post this same thing?

gnjapp-24 karma

I'm sorry if this bothered you in any way and I unserstand your point of view. I decided to share it as many as possible since lots of you from Reddit encouraged me on the previous posts. I'm still really worried if the product is not good enough but I want to help as many people as possible.

Is this cheaper than an ad when you consider the value of your time?

Thank you for your comment and I'm sorry if my post bothered you in any way. I totally understand your point of view.

Why premium?

gnjapp8 karma

Happy was originally planned to be offered to Goodnight Journal(launched 2013) users but I decided to open it up for everyone since a lot of us struggle all together at this time around. Happy is free but Goodnight Journal has premium for some features. You can read about why there's premium on the About page.

What would you say was your defining moment on moving forward with this? Unrelated, what’s your favorite “home cooked” food?

gnjapp14 karma

Thank you for asking a great question! When I noticed that mental health features can help users on Goodnight Journal(online journal app that I have been running from 2013) then realized this may can help more people in the world who all struggle with this pandemic since the goal of my life is building a product that can help people's lives :) My favorite home cooked food 🤔 I miss everything my mom cooks but I have been craving for lasagna recently haha

Is there something specific that drove you to help people in this way? Do you or someone close to you have a story relating to mental/physical health or the crookedness of the healthcare system in general?

gnjapp6 karma

I have been running an online journal app since 2013 and reading public journals from there made me want to help people this way. I feel a bit obligated too but I really want to do something that can make people to feel better for themself and things around them.

kawaiian1 karma

Thanks for putting good into the world! What was a feature you wanted to add but didn’t have time?
